Karim Kronfli in Thomas The Tank Engine Animation

Voice actor Karim Kronfli is featured as Cranky the Crane in Mattel Studios' new animated series Thomas The Tank Engine, Thomas & Friends. Cranky first appears in series 1 episode 118 "A Cranky Day At The Docks".

Karim also takes on the role of the station master in episode 105 "Brave Engines".

Cranky is a tower crane who works at Brendam Docks. He is green, gruff and can be just a little bit grumpy especially when the seagulls are annoying him.

Karim said he loved working on the project at the famous Soho Square Studios and lending his voice to such an iconic British story collection.

The new series features a refreshed visual identity and updated character designs that blend timeless charm with contemporary appeal, grounded in authentic train culture and emotional storytelling.

A 30 minute special called “Railway Stories: Really Helpful Engines” is currently available on YouTube and will have its debut on Netflix on 30th September 2026.

The full series, “Thomas & Friends: Railway Stories”, will debut in early 2027 with multiple episodes continuing the visual identity and storytelling tone introduced in the Really Helpful Engines special, reinforcing classic Sodor-based narratives for contemporary audiences.

Fans will be able to watch Thomas & Friends: Railway Stories on Youtube, Netflix, Amazon Prime and Free-to-Air channels globally.

Talent Agency International is proud to represent Karim Kronfli in his acting career. We look forward to hearing Karim's voice in future episodes of Thomas & Friends!
